Friendship is another one of Pittsburgh’s Neighborhoods that is on the rise as the East Side of Pittsburgh continues to develop with new development, businesses and real estate. Located in the city’s East End, Friendship or Friendship Park as it is sometimes called is located minutes to downtown, Pittsburgh’s world class medical facilities in Bloomfield/Lawrenceville, universities and thriving residential and commercial communities.
Friendship has a mix of Victorian and Edwardian homes, as well as Lofts and Apartments which are home to artists, professionals, and students. Friendship is considered a walkable community and is located next to major public transportation in and around the city via the central street Penn Avenue which runs right through it. Friendship has become a home for many artists and continues to be a growing area for Art in the city along Penn Ave connecting Bloomfield/Lawrenceville to Shadyside and Bakery Square.
Baum Grove is Friendships park is located at the Roup and Fairmont Street split and is home to the Friendship Flower and Folk Festival in mid May. The Festival features many musicians, artists, flower sales and vendors which help to preserve the park itself.
Many residential buyers are continuing the move into the area because of the potential for growth in the city as development continues to expand into the area.
